Spalted Beech Bowl

A beautiful small bowl in spalted beech it stands 3 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide.  A beautifully proportioned bowl ideal for nibbles or as a hall table depository.  Having said that I could imagine it being positioned purely for maximum admiration.
 
Spalting is a natural process, whereby competing fungi create a stunning alteration of colours and introduce the characteristic black lines.  While it can be re-created artificially it is notoriously difficult to predict and so spalted wood is prized by woodworkers alike.
